क्या हो रहा है?
India का apple harvest season अगस्त से शुरू होकर नवंबर तक चलता है। Jammu & Kashmir और Himachal Pradesh देश के सबसे बड़े apple producers हैं, और अभी orchards में fruit-picking का काम पूरे जोरों पर है।
अगस्त में सबसे पहले जो variety आती है वो है American Amri — early-season, crisp और थोड़ी tart taste वाली। इसके बाद September में peak season आता है, जब markets में Red Delicious, Golden Delicious और Maharaji जैसी varieties एक साथ मिलती हैं।
Market Price कैसा है?
Local market में अभी apple price ₹100–₹160/kg के आसपास चल रहा है, variety और quality के हिसाब से रेट ऊपर-नीचे होता है।
दिलचस्प बात ये है कि अगर आप सीधे Kashmir के orchards से खरीदें — जैसे Sopore या Shopian road पर roadside stalls से — तो fresh-picked apples सिर्फ ₹60–₹120/kg में मिल जाते हैं, जो local market के rate से भी सस्ता है।

क्यों खास है ये season?
Kashmir के orchards ज़्यादातर 1,600–2,000 मीटर की altitude पर हैं, जहां दिन और रात के temperature में 15–20°C का फर्क होता है। यही daily swing apples में complex sugars और flavour develop करता है — यही वजह है कि Kashmiri apples का taste बाकी जगहों के मुकाबले अलग होता है।
हालांकि demand साल भर रहती है, लेकिन असली peak winter months में आता है, जब domestic harvest और festive season एक साथ मिलते हैं।
